SKILL ACQUISITION
COACH DEVELOPMENT

​Jordan Cassidy has worked across the globe since September 2013, from Ireland, to Hong Kong, to the UK, and now in Brisbane, Australia; in roles such as a sports scientist, athletic development coach, physical education teacher, and more recently, a skill acquisition specialist.

​Jordan is currently conducting research in skill acquisition and coach development at Queensland University of Technology, Queensland Academy of Sport, and the Australian Institute of Sport. Alongside this, he also supports coaches at both community and performance levels.

Jordan's work is aimed at supporting coaches to best support their players and athletes.

Specifically, Jordan aims to encourage reflective practice and provide feedback on areas like:

  • Empowering and engaging players within training;

  • Coaching behaviours, and coach-athlete interactions within a session;

  • Training session (micro-planning) and training block design (macro-planning).
